AIRPORT XRAYS, I PREFER THE PAT DOWN

By Sydney Carlaw

I recall reading a couple years ago that even one x-ray could put you at risk of cancer. Dr. Weil wrote about this in one of his books and ever since then I have been reluctant to get an x-ray, whether that be for my teeth or now with airport security.

Perhaps, I have been eagerly anticipating this x-ray news, as it never sat well with me to get an x-ray scan at the airport. Well, now the confirmation is here! Dr. Russell Blayock has written an article about his concerns on the new airport body scans. He states his concerns about skin cancers from the body scan and the effects it could have on ones eyes and testes. He also adds that his concerns were felt by other professionals and brought forward to the Government yet were ignored. I encourage you to read more:

As for the assurances we have been given by such organization as the American College of Radiology, we must keep in mind that they assured us that the CT scans were safe and that the radiation was equal to one chest X-ray. Forty years later we learn that the dose is extremely high, it is thought to have caused cancer in a significant number of people, and the dose is actually equal to 1,000 chest X-rays.
