Uggg... Constipation
Since Baby Purity seems to be hearing a consistent complaint of constipation amount pregnant women… this Tip of the Week is for you, written by Dr. Nicole Dahl: http://www.drnicoledahl.com/DR_NICOLE_DAHL/04_news_december.htm
I must get one out of every 4 patients complaining of constipation. The toxic effects of not moving the bowels regularly is very damaging to the mucosa of the large intestine as well as the liver and lymphatic system. The extra stress on these organs of elimination leads to a toxic back up and the skin is often recruited to aid in waste removal.
If the bowel seems to be lacking moisture and the stools are dry and hard, the following foods will help to lubricate the intestines; spinach, sesame seeds, honey, pear, prune, peach, apple, apricot, walnut, pine nut, almond, soy, carrot, cauliflower, beet and seaweed.
If the bowel seems sluggish and lazy, the following foods will improve intestinal movement; cabbage, papaya, peas, back sesame seeds, coconut, sweet potato, asparagus, figs and rice bran.
