Sleeping Baby, Happy Parents
I am surprised that we haven't chatted about this sooner, perhaps I did years ago and may have forgot. One of those very important topics, that has helped my sanity on many of a nights is early bedtime.
I read a book when I was pregnant with our first and it has been one of the best books I read. Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Marc Weissbluth is a must read! Now with every book you may take what works best for you family, in this book the biggest point is early bedtime. The LESS your child sleeps the more they will want to be awake. The more they sleep the more they will sleep and be well rested, a happy child.
Now as a pregnant women with my first, I thought, how wonderful, I want was is best for my baby, I want her to be happy and well rested. What I didn't realize, is the other very important result to reading this book, a happy mommy!! The bedtime they recommend is 7pm and my five year old is still very tired and able to go to bed at that time. So now, with two children having them both in bed early is also time for me and my husband, time to unwind and be re-energized for the next day.
So read the book, it works! ... and to date, every mother I have passed it along to has been singing it's praises :)
