Swimming Pools
Since putting my girls in swimming lessons I have been wondering about the strong chlorine odour. It is often so strong that I leave with a headache. Of course that results in me questioning the health of our pools, this must be another thing that can't be good for you.
Dr. Mercola has some information on the affects of chlorinated swimming pools articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/12/03/Avoid-Swimming-Pools-if-You-Have-Allergies-or-Asthma.aspx stating that the respiratory health of adolescents and children seems to be impacted by chlorine. Affecting our children 5 times more then second hand smoke. Also noted is the impact on children developing asthma and allergies when spending longer times in pools.
Hmm.. another thing to be looking out for. I don't think my kids will be able to do their lessons in the ocean, so I guess it will come down to moderation for us.
Something to futher research would be what we can change in all our community pools to make it as safe as possible for our children.
